In 1971 Apollo 14 launched a mission to the Moon, which ended with Alan Shepard and Edgar Mitchell walking on the satellite. However, Stuart Roosa was also on the mission, who carried in his personal equipment around 500 seeds of pine, gum, sequoia or fir, which later became known as lunar trees or trees of the Moon.
